
Denise Dekker is a microbiologist specialized in the field of bacteriology and antibiotic resistance. She is head of the laboratory group “One Health Bacteriology” in the Department Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine in Hamburg, Germany. Denise has been conducting numerous epidemiological studies in sub-Saharan African countries with a focus on Salmonella enterica and transmission reservoirs of other antibiotic resistant bacteria in humans, animals and in the environment.
